This is a relaxed apartment only 10 minutes away from Amsterdam Central Station. It is cozy and colorful and it is composed by 3 tiny bedrooms, one living room, a kitchen and a bathroom. You will stay in one of the bedrooms and share the living room, bathroom and kitchen with others. The bedroom is VERY SMALL, not 5-star quality, but comfy and friendly.
There is normally a free bike to explore the city and we also provide a free tour of night life in the weekend if we are around.
The apartment is located in a beautiful 19th century house within short walking distance to cafes, restaurants, coffee-shops, supermarkets, and tram and bus stops.
We normally rent our apartment, when we (a family with three children) are on holiday. The house is family-friendly, but any type of tourists (as long as you don’t smoke inside) is welcome!
You can take a train from the airport to Amsterdam Central Station.
You can get to our house from Central Station either by bus 48 that goes in the direction of Sloterdijk (two stops, get off at Barentszplein) or by walking - about 15 minutes from behind Central Station (just walk parallel to the water from the back exit of the station and then turn left in Barentszsplein - see Google maps).
A more expensive but also a more comfortable alternative is taking a taxi from the airport.
We are looking forward to welcoming you!

Reviews of this property
I received a very friendly welcome by Helen and Engelbert and even got a quick overview of the area around the apartment when I arrived. The apartment is most definitely not like your typical faceless hotel room! :) The room itself is about twice the size of the bed, which is perfectly ok if you're only going to sleep in it. (There's a large table and an armchair in the living room.)
The neighbourhood is nice and quiet, but really close to Amsterdam's old centre. Going back and forth to different locations on the bike was a lot of fun. Try to find the yellow submarine!
Helen and her family were very welcoming and made me feel very at home. Single room so small as you'd expect but perfectly adequate and large wardrobe to put stuff. Use of bike if you wanted it plus local buses and trams - if like me you prefer to walk 20 mins to Centraal Station and 25 to the Dam. Overall very positive experience - if in Amsterdam on my own again would be very happy to go back there.
helen was not there but she asked the neighbour to give me the key and introduce me to everything. it was so uncomplicated and heartful that i could say during my visit in amsterdam," i came home " in the evening although i'm in a foreign city. thank you for hosteling me!!
It was a short but very pleasent stay with Helen and Engelbert. Espacially the bicycle that comes with the room is a lifesaver in Amsterdam! I would recommend this stay to everybody who has no problem with a small room (but a comfy bed, even for my 1.87m), evreything else was perfect!
I had a really good time in Amsterdam, Helen and her family make it happen, very helpfull and nice people, definatly if I had to go back too Amsterdam I would stay in hers, they let you a bicicle which helps to move around and explore the wonderfull city. Thanks Helen!
Was given good directions getting there from train station. Was not thrilled about the size of the room, the wardrobe for clothes was VERY musty smelling and although my visit was brief, did not want to leave clothes in it. Very tiny room, however, like most places in Europe. Having said that, the bathroom door did not close properly, never mind lock - not impressed. Helen and Engelbert seemed like pleasant enough hosts but I did not spend much time in the living room space.
Felt very much at home at helen and engelbert's flat. The room is small but comfortable enough. Bathroom and shower were clean and there was a big living room area with lots of books. The apartment is very central (make sure you take the back exit from the central station, it's the one going out to the ferries) and was really easy to reach all of a msterdam's attractions with the bike provided or the tram stop that's really close. The area is really nice and pretty and there are shops and restaurants around. Really enjoyed talking with engelbert, helen and their youngest daughter Eden. Would be happy to come and stay there again.
Helen is a great host of the house. Helen and her family will never forget their kindness.
As soon as she arrived at the house kindly explain about the house, plus she borrow me a bike so I could to go central of city. The bed was comfortable enough, that's good point to use the equipments in the house. Her family and his friends are lucky to know. If you are planning to travel to Amsterdam strongly recommend her house.
