Prime location - Bairro Alto 1B
|Address||Travessa dos Inglesinhos, 1200 Lisbon, Portugal|
|Response time||A few hours|
This is a modern and cozy apartment, full of character and light, set on the first floor (Drto) of an ancient typical Lisbon building in the trendy and vibrant Bairro Alto, known as one of the most attractive and picturesque areas of the Lisbon’s city center. This apartment is part of a group of 7 apartments that we have in this building.
The apartment has one bedroom with a double bed, and a double sofa bed in the living room, a nice bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, ready to cook home made meals. Towels and linens at your disposal are included in the price and satelite Tv and wireless internet as well.
To set forth on a discovery of Lisbon, there is no better place to begin: the tram a few steps away, international brand shops at Chiado and the more daring fashions in Bairro Alto, where you also have the trendiest restaurants of Lisbon. Bica neighbourhood, close by, is becoming a night haven for artists and intellectuals. But this does not destroy the calm and charm of Rua das Chagas. For theatre and opera lovers there are three theatre houses at a five minute distance, S. Carlos, S. Luiz and Trindade Theatres.
Chiado is where Lisbon's history and urbanity meet. This tourist area of the capital begins at the Brasileira café, on Rua Garrett. Opened in 1905. It´s one of Lisbon's postcards. On the side walk café you will find the different urban tribes and a statue of poet Fernando Pessoa, who offers his lap for tourist photos.
Next to it, two churches remind the vanished towers of Santa Catarina Gate. The Church of Loreto, built in 1528 by Italians living in Lisbon, was partially destroyed by the 1755 earthquake, but later rebuilt and one of the places to visit on Chiado. The Church of Encarnação, inaugurated in 1708, was also hit in 1755 and rebuilt later. But Chiado has more than just two churches to see.
Luís de Camões square, which any Lisboner will call Largo Camões, is not just a passing place. Sit on the steps of the poet's monument and enjoy the bustle that Chiado has.
But do not leave Chiado without inquiring about the theatres. São Luiz Municipal Theatre was one of Lisbon's first cinemas. Today it is a municipal theatre with a rich and varied programming. Also glimpse the Teatro Trindade and the S. Carlos Opera House.
This is one of the city´s best shopping areas. You will find international brand shops (Hermès and Hugo Boss, for example) and great Portuguese designers like José António Tenente (Tv. Carmo, 8) StoryTailors (Cç. Do Ferragial, 8) or Atelier Alves/Gonçalves (Tv. Guilherme Cossul, 16).
It is not difficult to come across public figures, mainly artists. There are several art schools in the area, like the Fine Arts Faculty. Even if you are not an expert, venture into the Chiado Museum - National Museum of Contemporary Art (Rua Serpa Pinto, 4) besides well-cared exhibitions, it has a pleasant patio to have lunch or simply sip a coffee. There is also a big offer for meals: Café Royale, New Wok and Kaffee Hause are excellent choices.
Walk the streets with care, the movement on the sidewalks is always heavy and the trams are constantly passing.
You are in Lisbon. And Lisbon never stops

Reviews for this host's other properties
Nice place, nice apartment.

the apartment is great. I agree with the statements of the other visitors. The View is amazing. The Location is awesome. It is very good organized - Carlos invited us to bring our luggage to his office during day of departure. But the bathroom is very small without a door. You have to notice this before booking.

die Wohnung is großartig.
We had a pleasant stay in the apartement near a small but wonderful park, perfect for relaxing and unwinding after a long day of seeing Lisbon.
A supermarket, bus and metro stops, and a range of different shops are nearby on the big street, which is just out of earshot.
The apartment itself was clean, we were provided with towels, bedsheets, toilet paper, enough dishes, basically everything you could need.
Travelling as 6, the living room and its balcony were kind of private for the two sleeping on the big couch, but still it offers a nice view and gives you the possibilty of a fresh breeze in the apartment.
It is located on the third floor and you have to climb up some stairs, so no way for anyone with mobility problems.
As a small and nice addition, the employee handing us the keys, Pedro, took all his time to explain us the known and maybe unknown highlights of the city
A homely feel with high ceilings and many balconies to allow maximum sunlight! The accommodation was in a great location. 10-15mins max walk away from stations, surrounded by many restaurants, bars and supermarkets. Located on the 3rd floor with no lift is a tricky job with luggages and after a night out/long day of sightseeing.
Very helpful host. Carlos shared with us everything worthwhile in Lisbon, things you wont read in guides.
Very nice apartment. The only drawback is squicky bed :) Apartment has amazing view on Lisbon as it is located near one of the best viewpoints. Nearby is metro station and the most famous tram 28 stop. Highly recommended!
Appartamento a buon prezzo in un quartiere movimentato di Lisbona! Unica pecca il bagno molto piccolo, inoltre si trova in una delle due camere e non esterno. Per il resto, lo consiglierei senz'altro!
